Stacking multiple locomotives in one block

Park locomotives

I want to park several locomotives in a block with a detector. According to the manual, the stop marker with the formula would be applicable here, wouldn't it?

Multiple detectors required

The solution won't work with just one detector because the braking and stopping indicators only trigger for the first locomotive, but not for the second. It will only work if the siding is equipped with two detectors.

Solution in TrainController

This requirement (parking several locomotives in one block) was discussed in this: post.

At the request of a colleague, I am now providing a description for this problem One block multiple locomotives.pdf without formulas in the stop and brake markers. This solution is therefore also suitable for TC version 7.0 and later.

Colleague Jens Mohr († 2023) provided this contribution Optimally park (line up) locomotives in the stub track using the start and destination buttons on this topic.

Line up in the destination block in TrainController 9

In the rules of version TC 9, under train formation, there is the rule "line up in the target block".

This rule not apply in a dead-end track if the train enters and exits the target block in opposite directions. (FIFO rule)

  • FIFO = first in, first out (The locomotive that entered first must also exit first)
